Personally I use Tompkins Knight & Son. I have found them to be very good. They are based in Northampton. I travel from Birmingham but its well worth it. Sheffield is much further however. Their website is www.tks-optometrists.co.uk. It may be worth contacting them. They may even be able to recommend someone closer to you?

Hello. I'm in Sheffield too. This is great as I've used the American dry eye website but obviously it gives advice for those in the states and not here. Looking forward to chatting to others with the same problem.

Me too!. I have used the American sites but it is great to find one dedicated to the UK. Handsome Bob, I have previously used Classic Eyes in Bournemouth (I live in Puddletown) and have found them to be very good. I have also visited Matherson Opticians in Four Marks as my parents live in Alton (they also have dry eyes) I know mathersons have several branches but I think just in hampshire. They are very good and do a lot of dry eye remedies

Hi,

Mathesons seem to be fairly geared towards dry eye. They claim to be dry eye specialists. I have always found them very good and they seem to have the latest equipment to aid diagnosis/ treatment. They look like they have close connections with the local eye surgeons. I would recommend them based on my experience

Near Bournemouth in Lymington a really helpful optician called Hassan Hicks Mr Hicks very good and I have seen consultants also in Bournemouth hospital and been referred by my dr for those but they said I also had belpheritis and Mr Hicks said nonsense and so did his colleague! Mine are dry and think it is hormonal started about 4 yrs ago and most days bad have lower plugs in also and use celluvisc and clinical drops and also on really bad days vita pos. some days better than others have stopped heat bags but may start again as seem a little better with heat in the morning for 5 mins and also use sterna lid wipes and these seem to clean and make eyes feel better and wetter for a while after. Hope you get relief soon keep posting as there are a lot of people with this and you are not alone.

Hi All, Susan here. Just joined. I've been ignorant about this for months now. I found opticians to be misdiagnosing me so stopped going. The only real time I got help was when I saw a dry ey specialist consultant. SHe recommended lipiflow but didnt do it herself as very expensive to buy. She knew a surgeon who was willing to buy. I had treatmnt 2weeks ago. I think I'm almost cured now after hourly drops, plugs, scrubs, eyebag. No sysmptoms at all now. Really worth my : hoping I'm cured.

anyone else got any feedback on this treatmet. I travelled from sheffield to manchester for it. Its at spamdica, info on their website www.20-20visionperfection.co.uk

Hello
My name is Gilly Anderson and I have been a patient of Andrew Matheson's for several years. The difference that his recommended treatment has made to me has been remarkable and has made a real difference to the comfort of my eyes and interestingly to my night driving.
Recently I lost a puntal plug from one eye, that eye has been troublesome and despite Andrew's best efforts plugs did not want to stay put. He suggested that I try having the lower tear duct cauterised. I was a little nervous of this procedure, which would in effect close the duct totally. However having undergone the procedure, which made use of plenty of anasthetic and was well explained to me and very quick, I haven't looked back. I still keep up the good hygiene habits that Andrew has instilled in me and use drops twice a day.
If the other eye ever proves to be troublesome I shall making an appointment to have it cauterised too.
Gilly
